November Newsletter
By: Arthur Gordon
November has been a quiet month for Northampton N.S. The weather has been horrible so I have not been able to get out much except for training in the school with Joe Quinn who trains hurling and Evan Kilroy who teaches Rugby.
The Credit Union Poster Competition has passed and we had four in the running. Oscar came first, Eanna came third in over 11s and Ross Perkin came third and Ciara Keane came 2nd in their age groups and in the Gort Lions Club 'Celebrate Peace' poster competition Richie Mitchell came first in the school and other people who entered received great praise for their efforts.
We held a competition for a fundraiser to help the school. From every class one piece of art was picked to be sent and to be printed as a Christmas card to sell in the school. There was also a picture of the whole school printed as well. The cards look really professional.
We went on a day out for cross country running. Jenny Kinane came 6th out of fifty two people in the girl's race. Even though it was raining it was great crack.
We did 'Operation Christmas Child' again this year. We sent out 53 boxes of presents for kids in less unfortunate countries all over the world.
We are developing a new Juvenile pitch in Kinvara and they are also putting fitness gear in the dressing rooms for the team.
They are building a new Kinvara soccer Utd pitch down the Clonasee road to be ready from next season in January or February next year. Kinvara are also refurbishing the Kinvara Community Centre. It is almost finished.
We are also renewing our Green Flag so we are doing a project on Water Pollution. It is about saving water and being careful not to pollute the fresh water. It also involves keeping up the big efforts with recycling and caring for our environment that got us the flag in the first place.
We are all looking forward to Christmas and to performing in our school concert on Friday 15th of December. Merry Christmas Everybody!
