October Newsletter
During October at Scoil Brighde Noafa we had lots of activities. Earlier in the month we went to see a play called '\Story of the Blues'. It was a great play as it was all dancing. In the dancing they showed how denim jeans were made. It showed us through dancing how it is processed and I really enjoyed it. The Junior classes went to see a a play called 'The Fly'. It was a mime and they had a fabulous day.
The other activities are the four people we have joining us during the week. On Monday we have Joe Quinn doing hurling with us and I really enjoy it. On Tuesday we have Mary O’Shaughnessy for choir class. It is very good. On Wednesday, we have my favourite game Rugby with Even Kilroy. It is great because I love Rugby. On Thursday, we have Jackie McCarthy for tin whistle and I enjoy it more now than I ever used to.
Earlier in the month we had a threat that the local all girls secondary school, Seamount College would close in three years time but there is a great parents council fighting to keep the school open.
Just a week ago we had a Garda football tournament in Gort. We did very well and got very far. Our line up was Oliver in goals, Mark and Eanna in backs, Tadhg and I in mid-field and Colleen and Stephen in forwards. We played very well and narrowly lost in the end to our local rivals St. Joseph’s Kinvara. The other sports blitz we had was hurling. It was an U9s school tournament and Northampton won. They played very well and won every match.
The other thing our school did very well in was the Oranmore Quiz. We had two teams who came 2nd and 5th out of 24 teams. We were delighted with that achievement. The next quiz was the Irish quiz in St. Joseph’s School, Kinvara. There were lots of teams from four different schools. Our teams performed very well and our teacher was delighted that we understood the questions so well.
In the school, we are also doing posters for the Credit Union and the celebrate peace poster.
In the local town, Kinvara, our U12s football team got into the County final. They played very well and lost to a very strong Craughwell team and every one was very happy with it.
This thing is not to do with the school but it will probably be one of the biggest events in Galway all year. It is the International rules in Pearse Stadium, Salthill, Galway between Ireland and Australia. Unfortunately, I can’t get tickets but the Aussies are coming and the Irish are ready. It is time to play !
The last thing is we have a new class assistant, Susan who is very nice. She also helped us last year so she is familiar with everyone.
