Summer Time by Jenny
By: Jenny
You know by the weather when summer has arrived. Blue skies, warm breeze and the sun beating down on your face. All the trees have their leaves and it's a sea of green in the garden. The flowers are at their peak and they're full of colour and life.
Just before the end of the school term, we go on our school tours. It's great because we know that the second year is nearly over. We get longer lunch times and P.E. as much as possible during school in the summer.
The weather is hot enough to put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. You can also put on a pair of togs and go down to the beach for a nice refreshing swim. When you do finally come out of the water, it's nice just to sit on a rug on the beach and have a picnic of sandwiches, crisps, drinks and of course ice cream!
My birthday is at the very start of summer which is May. My birthday is during the Cuckoo Flagh, a local festival. Later the Cruinniu Na mBad is also held where there are lots of stalls and shops all around the place. All of the Galway Hookers come in and have a big race.
I am a member of KBSC, Kinvara Bay Sailing Club. During summer, there are loads of races. For adults and for kids. There is even a sailing course.
During the summer I love to meet with my friends and get an ice-cream and maybe jump off the pier. It is great fun. Most families go on holidays either abroad or somewhere in Ireland. My family do both. We go somewhere like Spain or France. Then we take the caravan out to Connemara and stay in a lovely town called Roundstone. We stay in a campsite called Dogs Bay. There is a gorgeous beach and I have lots of friends out there.
Summer is by far my favourite season. I can't wait for it to arrive. I love summer!
The End!
