A new year 2008 and a new term at Northampton N.S. The building of the school extension began this week. It rained all the time on Friday. The digger trundled in to make the first cut of the soil.

All week builder J.J. O’Donohue and Engineer Paul Feeney and the Safety Officer were busy making preparations.

· The 2.5 m high hording went up.

· The prefab was moved on telegraph poles up the field it will be a site office / canteen.

· We all got an A3copy of the plan and there’s one on display at school.

The builder cut a window in the hording. We can see what is going on. It’s exciting. Working on site with J.J. this week are Valentino and Dimitri from Brazil and Martin Kerins from Kilmacduagh and Mike Burke is on the digger.

There we left our bags and made name tags. When we were finished, we made our way to the lake where we were doing fishing. The team I was in, caught a newt, a great diving beetle, caddis fly larva and a pond skater.
