Planting the School Garden: By Dearbhla
On Thursday, Mr. McDonagh brought us to the school garden. In the garden we saw Mrs. Costelloe, Sadie and Jo. We were given different planting jobs to do. I had to plant a row of onions. The soil was already prepared for me. A shallow trench had been dug for me. I popped little onion bulbs into the trench and then covered them with soil.
We then went into the Polly tunnel where we were each given a plant. Such as sunflowers, peas, courgettes etc., Jo then told us where to plant the pots in the garden. I was given a courgette to plant beside the peas. I had to soak the plant soil in the pot so it wouldn’t crumble. Then I dug a small hole beside the peas and planted it. To finish, we cleared away the weeds beside our plants.
